Everything you
need to know.
Answers to common questions about TimeUno, how it works, your data, and more.
General
What TimeUno is, and who it is for.
What is TimeUno?
TimeUno is a time tracker that follows the work in front of you, understands what you are doing, and classifies the time. It shows where the day went so you can stay focused.
Is TimeUno free to use?
There is no free tier. Every plan starts with a 14-day trial. After that, Individual is $14.99 a month, or $10.49 a month when billed yearly.
What platforms are supported?
A desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux (beta), a Firefox extension, and an agent for remote Linux servers. Extensions for Chrome, Edge and Safari are coming soon.
Do I need an account to use TimeUno?
Yes. The desktop app and the extension send time to your account. The dashboard is where you see it.
How does AI classification work?
TimeUno files each stretch as productive or unproductive from the app, the site, and the window title. AI-tool integrations send session metadata; your prompts and code never leave your device.
Is my data private?
Screenshots are never shown on a dashboard, including to a team admin. A team view shows totals per person for the last 7, 30 or 90 days or all time, not your apps, sites, or screens. Privacy, in plain words.
Can I use TimeUno for personal and work time?
Yes. It tracks the computer you install it on. Correct a classification once and TimeUno remembers it.
Who is TimeUno for?
Freelancers and agencies billing by the hour, developers working with AI tools, and small teams who want usage data without screen monitoring. Individuals use it for themselves. Teams see totals per person without anyone’s screens.
How do I start?
Create an account, choose a plan and start the 14-day trial with a card. Then install the desktop app or the browser extension. The trial starts at checkout, not when the account is created.
Do I need a card for the trial?
Yes. The card is charged only when the 14 days end. Cancel before that and you pay nothing.
How long is the trial?
14 days, with the whole product. There is no cut-down trial mode.
Can I use it on more than one computer?
Yes. Each computer pairs as its own device. You can disconnect one under Devices, even on a lapsed plan.
What should I install first?
The desktop app sees the app in front. The browser extension sees the site. Together they are the full picture.
How does a teammate join?
On a team plan, invite them from the team page. They join the team’s plan as a billed seat, not a trial of their own, and connect their own devices.
What does TimeUno track?
The app or site in front, and how long you stayed there.
Does it track idle time?
Yes. Time with no input is marked idle and kept apart from the time you were working. The app also counts how many seconds had any keyboard or mouse input, never what you typed.
Can I pause tracking?
Yes. Pause from the desktop app. A paused computer stops sending until you resume.
Can I fix a wrong category?
Yes. Change it once. TimeUno remembers that correction the next time.
What is a project?
Time can be filed to a project from the work itself, including the project folder name from an editor. The name only, never the files.
Can I see just today?
The dashboard opens on today, with the week beside it.
Does background work count?
The window in front is what counts. AI agents that TimeUno can see in a terminal are the exception.
What happens to time while I am subscribed and then cancel?
Tracking carries on until the end of the period you’ve paid for. When the plan ends, TimeUno stops saving new activity from your devices. Resubscribe and your history is still there, and tracking picks up again.
Which apps does it see?
The desktop app sees the app in front. The extension sees the site in the active tab.
Does the extension read the page?
Yes, to classify your time. It records the site, address and title of the tab you're using and up to 4,000 characters of its visible text, never what you type into fields. Sign-in secrets in an address, such as tokens and codes, are removed before it is sent. Turn the text off under Settings → Read on-screen text.
Why do I see both a browser and a site?
The desktop app names the browser window. The extension names the site. TimeUno keeps the site and drops the duplicate browser minutes.
Which AI tools does it understand?
Deep integrations for Claude Code and Cursor, including background terminals. Browser coverage includes claude.ai, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, DeepSeek, v0, Grok, Bolt, Lovable and Replit. Admin connectors for Anthropic and Cursor on Team plans are coming soon.
Can my prompts or code leave my device?
Not through the AI-tool integrations. They send metadata only. The desktop app's screenshots and on-screen text are on by default and can include whatever is on screen. Turn them off in the desktop app.
What about a private window?
If the extension is not allowed there, those minutes stay as the browser, with no site name.
Where is my data stored?
In your TimeUno account, on our servers at Hetzner in Germany. The dashboard is the same wherever you sign in.
How fast does it sync?
The apps send time as you work. The desktop app also sends a short live status about every 30 seconds while it is running.
What if I am offline?
The app keeps the time on the computer and sends it when the connection is back.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Settings, then Your data, downloads a copy of everything TimeUno holds about you. The privacy page is the full list of what is stored.
How do I delete my data?
Disconnect a device under Devices, or delete the whole account under Settings, then Your data. You can also write to support@timeuno.io; a human answers.
What does the desktop app send?
The app in front, its window title, idle time, how many seconds had any input (never what you typed), and, for an editor, the project folder name. Icons of the apps you use are sent so the dashboard can show them.
Are screenshots on by default?
Yes, on Windows, macOS and Linux desktops. They can be turned off per computer in the desktop app, or for the whole workspace by its owner under Settings. On a Mac they also need the Screen Recording permission.
Can my manager see my screen?
No. Team dashboards show worked time, scores and AI usage per person, for the last 7, 30 or 90 days or all time. They do not show apps, sites, or screens.
Who else processes the data?
Kopilot Web LLC is the controller, the company responsible in law for your data. On a team plan, the workspace owner decides to use TimeUno and we process the team’s data for them. The privacy page names every processor.
Can I turn capture off?
Yes. Pause tracking, disconnect a device, or turn screenshots off. Disconnect works even if the subscription has lapsed.
Do you sell data?
No. There is no free tier paid for by selling data.
How do I ask a privacy question?
Write to support@timeuno.io. That is also the address for access, export, and deletion requests.
Will I be charged during the trial?
No. The card is charged when the 14 days end. Cancel before that and you pay nothing.
How much does it cost?
Individual is $14.99 a month, or $10.49 a month billed yearly. Team is $19.99 per seat a month, or $13.99 billed yearly. Yearly is 30% off.
Why is there no free tier?
Classification costs money per person. A free tier would be paid for by making the product worse, or by selling data. The trial is the whole product for 14 days.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Then the dashboard locks and TimeUno stops saving new activity from your devices. Resubscribe and your history is still there.
Who can change the plan?
The workspace owner or an admin. A member cannot change billing.
What does the desktop app do?
It records the app in front and how long you were idle. It is also where you pause tracking and turn screenshots off.
Is there a Windows app?
Yes. There is also a Mac app and a Linux beta.
Does it need the browser extension?
No, but without the extension a browser is just “Chrome” or “Firefox”. The extension is what names the site.
How do I disconnect this computer?
Open Devices from the account menu. Disconnect stops that computer or browser from sending, subscription or not.
I still have a question.
Write to support@timeuno.io. A human answers.
Where is the blog?
Practical notes on focus and time live on the blog.
Where do I download it?
The download page has the Mac and Windows apps, the Linux beta, the Firefox extension and the agent for remote servers.
